(BANGKOK, January 29, 2024)— On January 29, 2024, the Thai Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Border Affairs, National Strategy, and National Reform appointed Fortify Rights Human Rights Associate Thanida Piyachot to serve as a secretary to the committee. This committee is comprised of 15 members of parliament, including members of the government and opposition parties, and is responsible for conducting studies and providing recommendations to the parliament on issues concerning refugees. 

Fortify Rights has long been monitoring policy developments in Thailand affecting refugees and documenting protection concerns affecting the rights of refugees in Thailand, including the arbitrary arrest and detentionrefoulementextortion, and other violations committed by Thai authorities against refugees.
