(BANGKOK, January 3, 2024)— On January 3, 2024, the Thai parliamentary committee working on the marriage equality bill appointed Fortify Rights Human Rights Associate Mookdapa Yangyuenpradorn as an advisor to the committee. The Parliamentary Committee to Scrutinize the Act for Amendment to the Civil and Commercial Code is responsible for scrutinizing the bill section by section and making amendments to the content of the draft before sending it back to the House of Representatives for a third round of reading. 

Fortify Rights has been monitoring developments on the proposed marriage equality bill currently under consideration in Thailand’s parliament and advocating for Thailand to bring the law in line with international human rights law.
