(BANGKOK, June 2021)—Between April and June 2021, Fortify Rights secured a total of US$265,000 in emergency support to directly support human rights defenders at-risk. This support included more than 20 small grants for human rights defenders in hiding in Myanmar, members of the Civil Disobedience Movement in Myanmar, writers, journalists, a Myanmar documentary filmmaker and photographer, as well as refugees in Bangladesh and Malaysia. These cash distributions enable at-risk human rights defenders to safely evade persecution at critical moments.
