(BANGKOK, January 15, 2024)—On January 15, 2024, World Press Photo’s Instagram published four images taken by photographer Patrick Brown as a part of Fortify Rights’s forthcoming research on atrocities committed by the Myanmar military, including genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.
The featured photos included portraits of military defectors from the Myanmar military who Fortify Rights interviewed. Patrick Brown took the photos in an undisclosed location in February 2023.
In February 2023, Fortify Rights worked with Patrick Brown to capture the images of Myanmar military defectors and facilitated the submission of selected photos to the World Press Photo.
