(NEW YORK, September 19, 2023)—On September 19, 2023, the Arakan Rohingya Union, an umbrella organization of more than 60 Rohingya-led organizations, and the Burmese Rohingya Association of North America presented Fortify Rights with the inaugural “Dr. Wakar Uddin award,” recognizing the organization’s global advocacy with the Rohingya people to raise awareness and action on the ongoing genocide in Myanmar. Fortify Rights’s CEO Matthew Smith accepted the award on behalf of the organization at a reception in New York City.
