(LONDON, October 31, 2023)—On October 31, 2023, the Wiener Holocaust Library in London agreed to add to its collection A Chance to Breathe, a photography book by Fortify Rights media fellows that documents the rarely-seen life of Rohingya genocide survivors in Bangladesh’s refugee camps. The Wiener Holocaust Library is one of the world’s leading and most extensive archives on the Holocaust, the Nazi era, and genocide.

Fortify Rights and the Wiener Holocaust Library both received the Roger E. Joseph Prize, an annual award by the Joseph family and the Joseph Prize Endowment to recognize “exceptional individuals and institutions” for their “lasting contribution to the causes of human rights.” With the prominent artist and daughter of Roger E. Joseph, Linda Karshan, Fortify Rights met with and presented a copy of A Chance to Breathe to the director of the Wiener Holocaust Library in London, Dr. Toby Simpson.
