(KUALA LUMPUR, December 13, 2023)—On December 13, 2023, the Associated Press (AP) published an article, “I Feel Trapped: Scores of Underage Rohingya Girls Forced into Abusive Marriages in Malaysia,” including quotes from the director of the Rohingya Women Development Network (RWDN) as well as a hyperlink to the organization’s website. The article quotes Director Nasha Nik, saying, “There are no other safe spaces for Rohingya women in Malaysia. … Domestic violence is very high.”
RWDN is a Rohingya women-led community organization working in Malaysia and the United States to strengthen and develop the Rohingya community through education, skills training, and advocacy.
