(COX’S BAZAR, March 16, 2021) – Dil Kayas, a media fellow with Fortify Rights and Doha Debates, participated in the 19th Oxford Human Rights Festival as a prize winner of a Rohingya photography competition. The festival exhibited 19 photographs from the Rohingya photography competition.

“I am trying to show people in this world how we live”, Dil Kayas said, in a video statement screened during the festival and shared online.

Three Rohingya refugee Media Fellows at Fortify Rights have been documenting life inside the world’s largest refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh since 2019. Using photography and social media, the Media Fellows provide a unique window into everyday life for Rohingya refugees and survivors of the ongoing genocide in Myanmar.

The joint project between the Media Fellows, Fortify Rights, and Doha Debates won a prestigious Shorty Award in 2020. Check out the Media Fellows’ work on Instagram: @azimulhass@dilkayas, and @omalkha.
